Tibet is open to foreigners this year 2018. Sounds strange, well we have to wait until the end of April to see if it is. Tibet is closed to ALL foreigners in February and March due to the birthday of the Dali Lama being in March. Subject to no ‘disturbances’ the Chinese Govt then lifts the embargo. Our planned exploratory tour along the previously closed southern road from Yunnan to Lhasa is going ahead – this road was always closed even if other routes in Tibet were open.
There is then an extension from Lhasa to Kathmandu. Some participants are then off to explore more of Nepal whilst some others are heading down to India for a private photo safari aimed at spotting tigers! There are still afew spaces available. This is a small group programme limited in numbers and is the first time foreigners have been along this southern road for many years.
