Airbnb has lost its way. Even the chief executive agrees

This is a topic that we have been ‘banging on’ about for quite some time now! The social impact of the current version of airbnb is one of the major contributing factors to rental accommodation problems for many residents of the cities that their system operates. Some cities, Amsterdam and Barcelona started taking steps to mitigate the problem. Others are following. Many people, including us, avoid using the platform as it moved so far away from its original intent. Now it seems the owners have seen the writing on the wall as they try to head off impending local government actions against them. We would like to think their actions are truly altruistic and not purely a form of corporate protection.
